How to Work the Side Leg Saddlebags

By Gina Jackson • Jun 30th, 2006 • Category: Training

A question from Sylvia and a frequent concern of a lot of women….“I wanted to ask you about an exercise that would work my thighs - particularly the back,
the part right below the butt…. It’s kind of sides bumps that I have, I don’t
like it and it is always sticking out when I wear tight clothes… I just don’t
know if the machine that works the legs works that part of the body.”

Work the abductors, using a) side leg series (in pilates), b) standing cable hip abduction (pictured here), c) seated hip abduction and d) lunges and squats.Hipadductiona

Its body fat that needs to be burned and all leg work will help (and is essential) yet the above exercises will target the area.

BTW, I dedicate 1.5hrs 2-3x week to legs, in addition to cardio just to keep them strong, toned and shapely.

Notice the cable ankle attachment in the picture. This is one of my favorite exercises. Try to do 3 sets for 15 repetitions with 15-20lbs.
