Rest? You Rust! So Move!

A teacher/trainer/friend shared this video link this morning and while letting the water boil for coffee I was captured sLes 7 doigts de la main  completely by the performance. You will be too when you see it. Most of us will think, oh this is impossible for me to do. Might be. Yes, the performers are professionals and if working your body with consistency, focused attention and commitment can change your one step forward to be just a little lighter, than you will be doing all that is necessary for you – at this time.

No Need for Weights – Anymore!

Yes, I can throw heavy weights around quite easily.  I have, on occasion, loaded the leg press with 2X my body weight fitness-stretching-3  and comfortably worked my legs.  But now, in my new personal training space, Pilates4Fitness Movement Space, there will be no need for weights anymore.

Pilates Mat with TRX Suspension

suspendedcrisscross I guess you can tell from my blog entries of late, that I have been playing around with another tool for core training in the past few months, using the TRX Suspension Trainer with both my personal workouts, my private strength/resistance clients and now my Pilates Mat students.

Defying gravity with a new challenge is making all of us stronger, sleeker and determined to continue using the tool.   The tool permits a full and complete range of motion throughout a workout, which in turn creates a more functional, safer and more successful method of training.  Read the rest of this entry →

Healing the Body with Pilates

Pilates is all about breathing, moving and building your strength; one breath at a time.   To heal and correct a body’s old habits requires re-training and re-education of motor control.  This involves new postures, movement patterns, mobility concerns and muscle imbalances. The Pilates method is a graceful, yet rigorous form of addressing each of these areas.  Private session training helps one to learn and work towards removing painful postures, correcting faulty movement patterns, improving mobility where needed and increasing stability where required.  In a studio setting, student and teacher work together to create an environment for optimal muscle balance and function.
