Stuff I Love and Use

onlineshop_0 So, as many of you know, this fall is bringing quite a few changes to my life, the way of working and way of sharing information with you. My new studio opens after Labor Day and gives me a new way of working out with each of you. I can’t tell you how excited I am about the possibilities I envision will take place in this space. Sometimes the excitement is too much for words.

Prior to that opening, (watch the countdown in the corner, yeah, over there to the right), I will also open up my FitnessShoppe as a member of OpenSky to sell only the products, tools and resources that I love and use in my life and my fitness regimens. Read the rest of this entry →

Disturbed!

butt I just received a most disturbing call from an adult.  A parent looking for private training assistance to help her teenage daughter develop a “more refined derriere.  If this call had come from an adult seeking to refine and reshape her own body, I would have jumped at the opportunity to show her “what, how and how often” we can and need to work the body – and the butt – to tone, shape and define it.  The fact that the work was for an athletic teenager under twenty years of age disturbed me. Susan G. Komen Race4Cure

Pilates4Fitness Team On behalf of the Susan G. Komen North Jersey office, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone that contributed  to the Pilates4Fitness Team effort at fundraising.  The team effort was stupendous!  Your online donations contributed toward the overall campaign goal of $1.2M and our Team goal of $1.2K.  Both were achieved and surpassed.

Thank you! Read the rest of this entry →

60 min x 7 Days

Outdoor-Running That is the magic number:  Women should work out 60 minutes a day, seven days a week, to maintain a normal weight over their lifetime.

Not from my mouth; although I have personally noted the fact and been blogging about for the past 3-5 years, as well as advising my friends/clients at the peri-/post-menopausal age  that it takes a “whole lot of moving and doing” to keep my body the way I like it to feel and look!

Anyway, back to the statistical study reference, which interestingly comes at the end of Women’s Month 2010! Read the rest of this entry →

Metabolism Slows Down After 40

Gina Jackson 45+ Years of Age This question came in in the past week from another site for which I contribute Strength Training commentary, VitalHealthZone.  Given that the writer and I share the same age, I thought it was purposeful to share my response, given perhaps the differences in our perspectives on managing peri-menopause and the required work, nutrition and support of a body over 40+

OMG! No Wonder!

curly_2 I shouldn’t be surprised because the results have been magnificent.  But this surely explains why I have been sooooo happy with my haircut.  Turns out Gary Evans, my new stylist extraordinare, is a celebrity stylist for many names you may know, and some we can’t even mention.

Princess Collar

This is a personal story.  It reflects a very personal artistic piece.  A custom design.  I call it my Princess Collar.  All princess collar the elements are one of a kind.  Each stone, each bead, each strand; the origin of each of the stones; the love, respect and honor of the man who selected the gems, the artist who crafted the finished piece and the delight I have in adorning my neck with the history they represent. Supplements, Aging and Obesity

This is a good read for those young males seeking to train your body to add “bulk” with the use of supplements. There collagen may be a few hidden “ah-ha’s” in the NYT article.

I found it in stark contrast to the Healthy Aging, With Nary a Supplement by Jane Brody a few days earlier, which was aimed at the older fitness consumer, more likely female, such as myself (and a avid supplement user of Tonalin CLA, Collagen + C and Reservatrol; none of which are mentioned/referenced in the Brody article) where conscious attention is recommended toward healthy diet and exercise and a deep bent toward natural supplementation from the nutrients derived in our food choices.

Collagen + C = Unstoppable Energy

I think the Collagen I & III that I am taking (with Reservatrol) each morning for the past 4 weeks is doing not only wonders on my hair growth but my nails, skin glow and big time on my energy levels.  So much so that I actually think it’s an ‘upper!’  Gesh! Read the rest of this entry →

Strong and Fierce

I am a little torn by this “announcement.”  Delighted that the issue is put to rest for the athlete and her family, glad that the “officials” finally got it right, yet disturbed that strong, fierce, dedicated athletic women are so disturbingly confusing for much of the world.
