Changing Her Life and Her Body
Cory’s son, Jonah, is her first child and has always felt
like my first baby as well. You see, Cory and Jonah were on of my very first client family. My work with Cory has involved pre-, and post-natal, cardio, strength and Pilates conditioning as well as nutritional support coaching.
Cory began
training with me prior to learning of her pregnancy in attempts to shed the
excess weight she was holding for the first part of her life. She has struggled with weight gain and loss
for most of her adult life and had a few image and self-esteem issues to
work thru as a result. That was five
years ago.
I always know when clients are happy with what they see
and how they feel. The oversized XXX
t-shirts disappear into slim fitting tank tops. I always know when clients are happy with what they see

Long-sleeved shirts are converted to capped shoulders or camisole
tops. Occassionally, I hear a story
about jaunts to purchase expensive lingerie or bathing suits that spouses have
never seen and obviously love! Cory is one of those
transformations.
My heart wrapped around Cory while training one day in the
gym, five years ago, when she teared up very early in her pregnancy because of
her fear of adding even more weight on top of the 150+ pounds she
already carried. I remember holding her
tightly as both of us wiped tears, and I consoled her to focus only on the need to simply have a healthy, happy child, and that we could worry
and cry and work with the weight loss after the baby had arrived.
She did. We did
together. Cory has made such an amazing
transformation in the last year through conscientious, diligent work that her
story just has to be told. Her son
Jonah, one of my favorite little people, will enjoy knowing what his mom does
with "Gina, my Mom’s friend and trainer."
Like all new mothers, the adjustment to new life and new
schedules is a big factor in keeping or allowing focus on oneself. Cory and I worked together in the gym
initially 1X week with my encouragement for cardio programming and adding an
alternate day of strength training exercises.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t always happen as easy as it can be
stated. In addition, the nutrition and
dietary supports are critical to a new mother for the new family, but also for
the “re-shaping” of the mother’s body.
In 2006, Cory made the decision and took the action steps required to
re-make her fitness lifestyle.
"For the past year, I have been
following the Weight Watcher’s plan and have been working out (Strength,
Cardio) and taking Pilates Mat classes regularly with Gina.
I made a conscious decision to become more
healthy and active, so I would be a good role model for my 4-year old son. As the mother of a toddler, I don’t have
unlimited time to work on myself, so I have taken a slow and steady approach.”
In addition to
Cory’s personal commitment to taking all the conscious steps forward, she
states, “Gina’s training method involves a serious
commitment to health and fitness. She is
professional and motivating and models healthy living. I particularly like the way she has shared
her own progress with her clients, privately and thru her blogs. In the past, I have worked with well-meaning
trainers who treated me more like a “spa guest” and not entirely
seriously. Gina had my goals in mind and
enthusiastically guides her clients toward reaching those goals.”
