Cory Cowan: Changing Her Life and Body
Page 2

cory2Cory has lost 20 pounds and at least “4-5 dress sizes” in the past year.  She says she could have realistically lost more overall weight, but has selected to continue at a moderate steady pace, given her lifestyle with her son and family.

"I have made consistent improvements, which are quite noticeable, according to my family, friends and acquaintances.

For example, after trying on a size 6 (my first time ever!!) in a shop recently, I asked the salesperson if, “my butt looked big in this” and she replied, “what butt?”  With the guidance of the salesperson, I found myself buying a size Small T-Shirt and Medium sweater, as well.  These are sizes I’ve never bought before!  I think others notice the changes more than I do.”

I asked Cory what she was particularly conscious of since she renewed her focus on fitness.  “Pulling in my Powerhouse!  Pilates has helped my back problem and I believe my posture has really improved.  I also think more consciously about what I eat and often think, 'what would Gina choose to eat for a snack?'

I have always been a closet eater, and now I think more about not sabotaging my efforts.  I’m not always successful, but I’m better than I used to be.  I’ve been working too hard to blow it all on a piece of cake.”

“One of my original goals was to have my BMI fall under the normal range rather than register "obese."  I’ve come father than I ever have and intend to stick with it.  Unlike the past, one of the goals I have definitely achieved is that it is not such a struggle to get myself to go work out.  I have also learned to push myself to workout even if I don’t always feel up to it because most of the time, I do feel so much better afterwards.  As the Weight Watcher ad says, 'I no longer feel like the biggest one in the room,' and this is quite a relief!”
